Hello

Can anyone please tell me if they are on the Work Related Activity Group of ESA? My husband has MG he completed his claim and his medical questionaire ages ago and has been getting benefit, then the other day he received a letter to say he was being put on the work related group and will receive a date for his personal adviser interview.

Can anybody tell me what happens now, will they just put him on JSA. They are still trying to balance out his medication at the moment as he is still getting double vision and weekness in arms if he does to much.

I am just so worried they are not going to listen to him, he has trouble reading and writing and he also has trouble taking information in, he will say what ever the person wants him to say or agree with them and i can not get time off to go with him.

Sorry to gabble on but I have not got a clue as MG is so rare and we don't know anyone else with it who lives in Devon, if there is anyone out there from Devon give us a shout as we feel all alone.

Thanks for reading (listening)

Vicky G

Has he had a medical with ATOS yet? I finally had mine on the 24th July and got the decision this morning dated 1st Aug. I have been put into the support group as I have some serious side effects at the moment and find it very difficult to be away from a loo. Have major difficulties with mobility as well. My ESA will run until 24th July 2015 officially. Review due then. Although it may be migrated prior to that due to PIP. And it is the contributions type as well. So I do not need to go to work related interviews unless I wish to do so on a voluntary basis. But I do work 12 hours a week at present, even though I am struggling to cope with even that now. But this decision has taken some pressure off.

I think you need to appeal this as soon as you can - I think you need to use a GL24 - which I think can be downloaded on to a PC via their website: www.direct.gov.uk/appeals - You need to use the ESA descriptors to help formulate your answers. Get a copy of the paperwork involved in the decision and get your GP/neuro involved and I think there is someone on this forum that helps as well.

Thanks for answering me, no medical he has been put on work related activity group, and they have put his money up a little bit. Our doctor and neuro think he will be capable to work sometime in the future even though the have still not got his tablets sorted on says something the other says another thing, he is still on steriods they did lower them to 4 x 5mg but his double vision got worse and legs, neck and arms got tired.

so he is on 16 x 5mg but still getting symptons so they are not sure what to do with him as only 2 other people with condition in a wide area. Went to see job advisor on friday to see what work activities he could work towards, not alot but they will ask again when he has to go back in 8 weeks time. Also been informed he is to be re assessed in January so they could kick him on job seekers then. I did also say about his toilet problems to the doctor as it can get very urgent, but not really interested.

So stuck on what to do, watched that programme the other night when the doctor went undercover at Atos, it made me sick and very angry how people are treated. The bit that made my chin hit the floor when the lady said blind people dont have to be fluent in braile as long as the can read fire exit and run away! that counts as no points! The stress is enough to make anyone ill, and my hubbie has trouble reading and writing and taking in info, so i am the one who has to try and understand everything to try and buffer it away from him.

So sorry to go on just needed to let of steam.

Thanks
VickyG
